In this world, there exist these strange entities known as Mushi. They are older than life itself and exist everywhere, often misidentified as ghosts and spirits. Some people think they might even be the origin, the precursor, to life. Those who study the Mushi are known as Mushishi, and one of such Mushishi is Ginko. He searches for and studies the Mushi (as well as solves Mushi-related problems) in hopes of gaining a better understanding of life itself, as the Mushi may hold the key.

Editor's note: Tbh, I initially didn't expect much from this anime, but it is actually REALLY GOOD. It's a bit slow, but it's very deep. It's one of those that really just transports you into its world and makes you question your own reality. Please watch this one.
